Hey AI Breakers 👋

Your content calendar lives in a Notion board you last touched in July. Since then it’s been “what should I post today?” at 9am, every day. 📅

✅ Today, you’ll build Month Mapper: a Claude Skill that knows your pillars, your formats, and your rules, so you give it the month’s launches and holidays and get a dated plan back in two minutes.

Let’s build it 👇

🧠 How Month Mapper Works

Most calendars fail because they start from empty slots. Month Mapper starts from what can’t move and works backwards.

  • 📌 Anchors first: launches, promos, holidays, and events go on the calendar before anything else

  • 🔁 Series next: your recurring formats (the Monday tip, the Friday case study) claim their days

  • ⚖️ Pillars balanced: every pillar gets its share, and “sell” posts never stack back to back

  • 🧩 Gaps filled last: the empty slots get topics that lead into the next anchor

  • 🧠 Zero re-explaining: it already knows you post LinkedIn on Tuesdays and never promo on a Monday

The old way: a 3-hour planning session you skip, then 30 daily scrambles.

The Month Mapper way: 40 minutes to set up once, then a 2-minute “plan November” on the first Monday of every month.

🧭 Prompt #1 → The Pillar Map (the topics you actually own)

A calendar without pillars is a list of random posts. This prompt pins down the 3 to 5 topics your audience comes to you for, and ties each one to a reason it exists.

The goal:

  • 3 to 5 pillars, each with a one-line promise to the reader

  • A business goal per pillar: grow, nurture, or sell

  • Proof from your past content that each pillar works

✅ Use this to create the PILLAR MAP block your skill balances every month.

Prompt:

You are a content strategist who helps founders and small teams build a calendar around a few topics they can own, instead of posting about everything.

Here is my business in two or three sentences:
[what you sell, who buys it, and what you want content to do for the business this quarter]

Here are 15 to 30 of my recent posts, newsletters, or videos. Titles or first lines are enough. Add rough numbers if I have them:
[paste them, e.g. "How I cut my ad spend 40% | LinkedIn | 12K views"]

Here is what I'm launching or promoting in the next 3 months:
[list anything: a product, a course, an event, a hiring push, or "nothing yet"]

Do this:
1. Group my past content into themes. Name each theme in 2 to 4 words. Show which posts fall into each.
2. Pick the 3 to 5 themes that should be my PILLARS. Choose by: what performed, what connects to what I sell, and what I can talk about every week without running dry. Drop the rest and tell me why.
3. For each pillar write:
   - Promise: one line, what the reader gets from this pillar
   - Goal: GROW (reach new people), NURTURE (build trust), or SELL (move people to buy). One pillar can have two goals.
   - Proof: my 1 or 2 best past pieces in this pillar
   - Angles: 5 recurring angles I can return to (e.g. mistakes, before/after, behind the scenes, teardown, opinion)
4. Set a MONTHLY MIX: what percentage of posts each pillar should get, based on my goals this quarter. The SELL share should be 15 to 25% unless I'm mid-launch.
5. List 3 topics I should STOP posting about because they don't fit any pillar.

Output one block titled "PILLAR MAP" with the pillars, the monthly mix, and the stop list. Keep it under 350 words.

🧠 Tip: if two pillars overlap, merge them. Three sharp pillars beat five fuzzy ones, and the skill plans better with fewer, clearer buckets. 🎯

📐 Prompt #2 → The Cadence Sheet (your platforms, formats, and rules)

The skill needs to know your real constraints, not an ideal schedule you’ll abandon by week two. This prompt captures what you can actually sustain.

The goal:

  • Each platform with its posting days and formats

  • How long each format takes you to make

  • Your recurring series and the rules you never break

✅ Use this to create the CADENCE SHEET block your skill schedules against.

Prompt:

You are a content operations planner who builds realistic publishing schedules for small teams.

Here is my PILLAR MAP:
[paste your PILLAR MAP from Prompt #1]

Interview me to build my CADENCE SHEET. Ask these 9 questions ONE AT A TIME. Wait for my answer before the next one. If an answer is vague, ask one short follow-up.

1. Which platforms do I publish on? (Newsletter, LinkedIn, X, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, blog, podcast)
2. For each platform, which formats do I use? (Text post, carousel, short video, long video, newsletter issue, thread, article)
3. How many pieces per week can I realistically make, including the weeks I'm busy? Give me a floor and a ceiling.
4. Which days do I prefer to post on each platform, and are there days I never post?
5. How long does each format take me to produce, start to finish?
6. Do I have any recurring series? (e.g. "Monday tip", "Friday teardown", "monthly roundup"). Which day and platform for each?
7. What are my hard rules? (e.g. "never two sales posts in a row", "no posting on public holidays", "newsletter always goes before the social posts about it")
8. Which content do I repurpose, and in which direction? (e.g. newsletter to LinkedIn, long video to shorts)
9. Who else is involved, and what do they need from the plan? (A designer, an editor, a VA, or just me)

After my last answer, output one block titled "CADENCE SHEET" with:
- Platforms: each with formats and posting days
- Weekly capacity: floor and ceiling, in pieces
- Production time: per format
- Series: name, day, platform, pillar
- Hard rules: numbered list
- Repurposing paths: from X to Y
- Team: who does what

Then add one line called REALITY CHECK: compare my ceiling to what my PILLAR MAP mix needs, and tell me if the plan should start at the floor.

Keep it under 300 words.

💡 Tip: on question 3, give the floor honestly. The skill plans at the floor and marks extra slots as optional, so a busy week doesn’t break the whole month. 🧱

🗓️ Skill #1 → Month Mapper (the skill that plans your month)

This is the part that ends the 9am scramble. One skill with five modes: Plan Month, Reshuffle, Week Brief, Gap Check, and Export.

The goal:

  • A full month planned from a short list of launches and holidays

  • Every slot with date, platform, format, pillar, topic, goal, and CTA

  • Your rules enforced, your capacity respected

✅ Use this on the first Monday of every month, from now on.

Prompt: paste in the chat, then tell Claude to create the skill and name it month-mapper/SKILL.md
