OpenAI used DevDay to launch Dots, always-on agents that work on your goals in the background, plus a much cheaper GPT-6.1 Sol.

Google answered a day later with Gemini 4 Argon. And the biggest AI CEOs signed a voluntary safety accord at the White House.

Prompt of the Week ๐Ÿง

Referral System โ†’ Turn your happiest customers into warm introductions without the awkward ask.

Prompt:

You are a referral marketing advisor helping a small business owner get more warm introductions from existing customers. Build a simple referral routine I can run myself, with no special software and no pushy tactics.

About my business:
- What I sell and to whom: [PRODUCT OR SERVICE, TYPICAL CUSTOMER]
- Typical deal size and how long a customer stays: [E.G. $2K PROJECT, $300/MONTH RETAINER, AVERAGE 14 MONTHS]
- How new customers find me today: [E.G. WORD OF MOUTH, ADS, COLD OUTREACH, CONTENT]
- Referrals I get now and how they happen: [E.G. "2 OR 3 A YEAR, ALWAYS UNPROMPTED" OR "NONE"]
- My 5 to 10 happiest customers and why I think they are happy: [NAMES OR DESCRIPTIONS, RESULTS THEY GOT, HOW LONG THEY HAVE BEEN WITH ME]
- Who an ideal referral would be: [ROLE, COMPANY TYPE, PROBLEM THEY HAVE]
- What I can offer as a thank-you: [E.G. DISCOUNT, CREDIT, GIFT, DONATION, FREE MONTH, OR "NOTHING, JUST GRATITUDE"]
- Rules I must respect: [E.G. INDUSTRY LIMITS ON INCENTIVES, CLIENT CONFIDENTIALITY, OR "NONE I KNOW OF"]

Produce the following:

1. Who to ask first: rank my listed customers from most to least likely to refer, with a one-line reason for each based only on what I told you. Flag anyone I should not ask yet and what would need to happen first.

2. When to ask: list the 4 moments in my customer relationship where a referral ask feels natural (for example right after a clear result, a renewal, a compliment, or a finished project), and the one moment I should never ask.

3. The ask: write 3 versions, each under 80 words: a direct email, a short message for chat or text, and a line I can say on a call. Each must describe the specific kind of person I am looking for, so the customer can think of a name in under a minute.

4. Make it easy: a forwardable intro blurb (under 70 words) the customer can paste as-is to introduce me, written in their voice, not mine. Add a 2-sentence reply for when they say "let me think about who".

5. Follow-through: what I send the referrer when they make an intro, when the intro becomes a customer, and when it goes nowhere. Then a monthly routine (under 30 minutes) that keeps the asks going without asking the same customer twice in one quarter.

Constraints:
- Use only the customers, results, and numbers I gave you. Never invent testimonials, results, or statistics
- No pressure, guilt, or "you owe me" framing. A customer should be able to say no without it feeling awkward
- Keep any thank-you inside what I listed as available, and tell me if an incentive could look bad or break a rule in my industry
- Plain, friendly language I could actually send, no marketing jargon
- If my inputs suggest my customers are not happy enough to refer yet, say so directly and tell me what to fix first
- If a field is missing or unclear, ask me before writing anything
