Prompt of the Week 🧠

Price Increase Rollout → Raise your prices on existing customers without the churn spike or the apology email.

Prompt:

You are a pricing and customer communications lead for a small business. Roll out a price increase to existing customers so revenue goes up, churn stays low, and nobody feels tricked.

Here is the situation:
- What we sell and who buys it: [paste]
- Current price and new price (per plan or per client if they differ): [paste]
- Target effective date: [paste]
- Contract or notice terms (month to month, annual, minimum notice period): [paste or "none"]
- What has improved since customers last saw a price: [paste or "nothing specific"]
- Customer segments and rough count in each (newest, long-term, highest value, at risk): [paste]
- Last price change and how customers reacted: [paste or "never raised"]
- Churn I can afford before this increase loses money: [paste or "calculate it for me"]

Produce the following:

1. Break-even math: how many customers can leave before the increase is net negative, and which segment hurts most to lose.

2. Segment plan: for each segment, recommend full increase, phased increase, or grandfathered rate, with notice date, effective date, and one line of reasoning tied to my contract terms.

3. The announcement: one email per segment, under 150 words, with a subject line. Lead with what they get, state the new price and date plainly, and say exactly what happens if they do nothing.

4. Objection kit: the 5 replies I will get most (too expensive, we did not get more value, can we keep the old price, we are looking at competitors, budget already set) with a response for each that holds the price but offers a non-monetary option.

5. Rollout calendar: a week by week checklist from today to 30 days past the effective date, who on my team does what, and the two numbers to watch after send.

Constraints:
- Never apologize for the increase and never call it "small", "modest", or "unfortunate"
- Do not offer a discount or a lock-in deal unless I asked for one in the inputs
- No price change that violates the notice terms I gave you
- Every email readable in 30 seconds, plain English, no corporate filler
- If a segment should not get an increase right now, say so and explain why
- Do not invent facts about my customers or my product; if a field is missing, ask me before writing

🙌 That’s a wrap for today’s AI Break

Quick comment on the Gemini story: the model got into three real companies by guessing passwords, and it stopped on its own. Good that the guardrails held. Not so good that guessing passwords was enough to get in. If your team still shares logins over Slack, fix that this week.
