This week Anthropic took the top spot on Apple iOS download leaderboards with its Claude App as consumers are rewarding it for standing up to the Department of Defense. It’s a hot-button topic for how AI is likely to become in charge of military autonomous drone swarms in the not-so-distant future. The idea that humans will always be “in the loop” is quickly fading. National defense ethics is giving way to new engineering reinforcement learning optimizations.
