Hey fam 👋 Luis & Rui here with your Monday dose of AI.
MIT just dropped a bombshell study that puts a specific number on how many of us are about to be replaced. Meanwhile, OpenAI is “melting GPUs” trying to keep up with demand.
Grab your coffee, this one is heavy.
(3-minute coffee break ☕)
The Big Story: MIT says 11.7% of jobs are already obsolete 📉
What Happened: MIT and Oak Ridge National Laboratory released their Iceberg Index study, and the numbers are terrifying. They found that AI is already capable of replacing 11.7% of the US workforce.
The Analysis:
-
The Dollar Value: That is $1.2 Trillion in wages that companies can technically save right now by switching to AI.
-
The Victims: This isn’t just about factory workers. The study specifically targets “high-wage” roles in finance, healthcare, and professional services.
-
The “Iceberg” Effect: They call it an iceberg because most of this replacement capability is currently hidden beneath corporate “pilot programs.” When it surfaces, it will happen all at once.
The Takeaway: If your job involves “processing information” (e.g., summarizing reports, basic coding, data entry), you are in the 11.7%. You need to move up the value chain to “Strategic Decision Making” immediately.
🎁 Free Resource: The “Career Survival” Audit
Since MIT says 1 in 9 jobs are at risk, we built a simple Audit Checklist to see if your specific role is safe.
What it is: A 1-page PDF checklist based on the MIT “Iceberg Index” criteria.
The Result: It gives you a “Replacement Score” (0-100%). If you score above 60%, you need to pivot. This is our freebie of the day
