Hey fam 👋 Luis & Rui here with your Thursday dose of AI.
OpenAI just dropped its first “State of Enterprise AI” report, surveying 9,000 workers. The findings? AI is saving workers less time than expected.
Grab your coffee, let’s dive in.

The Big Story: OpenAI says AI saves average workers less than 1 hour/day
What Happened: OpenAI released its “State of Enterprise AI” report, surveying 9,000 workers across 100 companies. The headline number? Workers using ChatGPT Enterprise save only 40-60 minutes per day on average.
The Analysis:
-
The Gap: Heavy users (”frontier workers”) save 10+ hours per week, while average users save less than an hour daily. That’s a massive adoption gap between power users and everyone else.
-
Who’s Winning: Data science, engineering and communications roles reported the highest time savings at 60-80 minutes daily. Heavy users blend advanced models and multiple tools into custom workflows.
-
The “Fiddle” Factor: A major reason for the low time-savings is likely the time users spend “prompt engineering”. Tweaking, checking, and fixing AI outputs which eats into the efficiency gains.
The Takeaway: The productivity gains from AI are real, but they’re not automatic.
The question isn’t whether to use AI – it’s whether you’re using it in the right places for the right tasks.
